Faculty of Economics Welcomes 21 Students from India to the MONTEB Program

After more than a month of online classes, patiently waiting for the completion of administrative procedures that would allow them to join their peers in Podgorica, and after traveling 6,000 kilometers, students of the third generation of the English-language program at the Faculty of Economics have arrived from India.

On their first day in Montenegro and at the Faculty of Economics, they were welcomed by their fellow students, representatives of student organizations, professors, and staff, who organized a ceremonial reception, an introduction, and a tour of the faculty building.

“The arrival of 21 students from India to our MONTEB program represents an important step in the process of internationalization of the Faculty of Economics and the University of Montenegro. Their choice to begin their undergraduate studies in Montenegro confirms that our academic program—the first bachelor’s program in English in our country—meets international quality standards,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Prof. Dr. Mijat Jocović.

He added that this step enriches the academic community with new cultures, perspectives, and experiences, opening new opportunities to develop international partnerships and to strengthen the University's global visibility.
“I am confident that our students from India will contribute to the further improvement of the study process and that their presence will be a strong incentive for new generations of foreign and domestic students,” he concluded.

The Minister of Education, Science, and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović, welcomed the students from India to Montenegro, emphasizing that their presence confirms that the University of Montenegro and the Faculty of Economics are ready for new connections, ideas, and opportunities that go beyond borders:

“By launching the first undergraduate program in English in Montenegro, the Faculty of Economics set high ambitions—to prepare students to think globally, act responsibly, and contribute to a more modern and dynamic economic environment. The MONTEB program is designed to stimulate curiosity, strengthen academic integrity, and develop practical skills necessary for leadership in today’s rapidly changing world. By choosing this program to achieve your academic goals, you have become part of an institution that strives for excellence and deeply believes in the power of education to drive progress—for individuals, communities, and society,” the Minister concluded.

The MONTEB program coordinator also greeted the students, Prof. Dr. Maja Baćović, who shared numerous essential details to help them integrate more quickly into the regular academic process and prepare for the upcoming exams and assessments.

On Friday, the students arriving from India will be hosted by the Chairman of the Board of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Milivoje Radović.
Additionally, the first MONTEB International Day will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday in honor of the students from India. During this event, all international students at the University of Montenegro, MONTEB students, and their peers from other Faculty of Economics programs will gather.

This year, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Montenegro enrolled the third generation of students in the English-language program, the Academic Program in Business and Economics (MONTEB). In addition to students from Montenegro, the program includes students from Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, India, and Sri Lanka.

During its three-year duration, the MONTEB program provides students with a wide range of knowledge and skills in economics and business, preparing them for both domestic and international labor markets, and enabling them to develop practical skills in economic and business analysis while continuously improving their English proficiency.
